Culture · Cassette years
The sound before the game: waiting for a cassette to load.
Those electronic shrieks taught a generation patience, anticipation and persistence.

Before instant loading, there was ritual. The cassette was rewound, the counter checked and the volume set with the confidence of a laboratory technician.
Then came the noise: harsh electronic bands that sounded like no music anyone had heard before. Those minutes created anticipation. Friends debated whether the screen border looked right and nobody dared touch the recorder.
When waiting was part of playing
A loading error was painful, but a successful title screen felt earned. Today that delay is remembered less as inconvenience and more as the overture to an adventure.
